Me, Myself [Ram Krishna Wagle]

About myself:
The typical things about me: I am full of energy, feisty, optimistic, pragmatic and extroverted (I really am). But, really this may sound pretty boring and anyone could make a long list of idiosyncrasies and characteristics. I love to live, breathe and enjoy as everyone does (so this makes me normal). I am incredibly complex and yet easy to understand and good to hang out with(I think so). I value my frens, my family and my freedom. And I believe, to really understand someone, you have to come to know what they value, stand for, and are passionate about.
I believe being passionate about something you adore is the way of living your life.

My goal is simple: Live each day to its fullest and leave everything i touch better than it was before i arrived. Arrogant? may be. But its who i am and I always love keep moving.

I love reading books: mostly I go for fiction (coz they are easy to find) but recently non-fiction is the genre that interests me more. I know its good to write but haven’t found myself doing so (there is difference between knowing a path and walking a path).

I am a software developer by profession and I work in an outsource software company here in Kathmandu.

I love to travel to exotic places and I feel guilty to say I haven’t explored the Himalayan kingdom to the fullest but I have been to few places and I believe traveling is the best way to learn things around.

My alias is ‘waamax’. Almost all my frens call me ‘wagle’ (I am rarely called by my real name ‘Ram Krishna’). During my +2 days they made it even shorter to ‘waa’. All I did was to add ‘max’ to it. My official site is under this name waamax.

I am very goal centered and my topic of interests includes business and computing. And I know the difference between my job and my career (hopefully they are the same)

I am good at sports (football, cricket , blah blah..) and I have no regrets of being more of a player than a student in my college life.

I love biking (my suzuki gen) as I regard it not just a bike, rather my freedom.

The greatest assets I have acquired in my life are my frens and I would love to keep discovering them.

I love being called romantic and I love music of all sorts (coldplay, metallica, pink floyd being my all time favs).

my wildest dreams include knowing everything under the sun, being a space tourist, touring all the countries of the world, and creating a world of my own (I don’t know exactly what that means). I enjoy taking with strangers.

I love to live my life surrounded by the ones who love me. In fact this gives the meaning to my life and the reason for my living. Thanks everyone.

I wish everyone I know do well and progress in his/her life. Be blessed.

I believe in living each day doing one particular thing that scares me.
Presently I live in beautiful (not always) and full of life Kathmandu city with my fren Prashant and life gets better everyday.

Cheers to life!!

Using metaphors

well at times things are best described when nothing is told as it is (i mean literal here), rather describing it with symbols or by implicit comparision. you guessed it right; using metaphor. using metaphor means using symbols to somebody or something that is not meant literally but to make a comparision. At times using metaphor may prove be more effective and creative to covey messages.

As a software developer and presently working on the software development, i didn't meant anything about fire or flame while saying:
***"The interface team is on fire with brilliant ideas. I heard the the last build went up in flames. I got scorched when I mentioned the flame-out in the last meeting and you got burnt when you wrote the email about it last week. I keep getting flamed on the company blog about changing our design method. I heard the next project is already toast- burnt to a crisp. I cannot seem to light a fire under the librarian on this project. Her fire went out went she was switched to part time."

Our teachers did sound like horticulturalists when they talk these:
The basic ability of a student to learn could be compared to a seed and their role is to provide the right soil and sunlight for their growth. some students are pot bound while others flower and reach fruition. some students need a hothouse to develop while others could prosper in a desert.

Financial people are also in the race. it gives me impression that sometimes their talks sounds like as if they are plumbers. When they talk about flood the market, cash flow, liquidity, solvency deposits, float a loan, capital drain, underwater pricing etc. its hard to believe they are talking about money management.

You might say, i can't be saying this anywhere but in circus when i say this:
***" I was told to stop clowning around. It's a real circus in there. I'm working without a net with that new client. This is turning into a high wire act -- if we lose our balance, it's a long way to the ground. Who's the ringmaster of this escapade? She thinks she can get us to follow her commands by cracking the whip. I'm not jumping through his hoops unless the spotlight is on me. That job calls for a daredevil acrobat, not some stupid dog tricks. The only way to catch the next trapeze is to let go of this one."

it is found that the metaphors can affect our thinking and emotions. what if we could use the financial term to describe our relationships as we describe our financial terms using plumbing words? eg. the marriage was bankrupt; i would like to invest more in this relationship; you value much in my life; i hope my love interest is compounded daily.

note: *** the metaphor extracts in this post are taken from creative think

do you ever think you became the worst version of yourself?

Sometimes i feel i have become the worst version of myself. It is said that during a human lifetime one performs one billionth of his/her potential. There are infinite ways, infinite destinations and its only you to decide that. At times i feel i am doing the opposites and choosing the worst among the alternatives.
Well that could have been a coincidence but nothing just happens, every thing happens for a reason. And for the things happening to you, you are the only cause.
That’s when i think i have been my worst blueprint. But i can always regain my focus and hard work to become the better version of myself. hmm. let’s get back to work.

Avoiding the nero syndrome..

It is found that someway or the other we become the victims of this syndrome. If we have this syndrome then we couldn’t deliver to our potential and we get ourselves stuck up in trivial. For those who are not known to the term ‘Nero syndrome’ let me put some light on that. Person with Nero syndrome involves doing things less important ignoring things of much value at that particular time. eg. during titanic collapse, as the ship was sinking in the Atlantic some of the crew members were arranging the chairs in the back instead of making arrangement for the safety of the passengers on board.
At times we get ourselves involved in the things that matters less. The only remedy to the Nero syndrome is :”Never lose your focus”. Being focused enables you to deliver right action at right time. Known the path let’s start walking it before its too late.

What is in the words?

– Do big words have the better chance to convey messages compared to the normal ones? Yes they do. Well it has been the season of building word power for the guys as they prepare for their GRE exams. For me I am not taking the GRE. But i am left wondering if i am missing some great vocabularies by missing the GRE exams preparation. Ye i do believe that, the more words you have in store, you got better chance to explain things more clearly and more precisely. Apart from looking intellectual and cool you learn to be precise and better at explaining things. Well i guess i should be following the words if at all not the exams.

How Fool do you think You are!

If without giving a deep thought you replied I am not at all a fool, let me quickly give you one important benefit of being a fool; at times thinking like a fool help us to look at a problem in a helpful way. I follow the mantra of "if a thing is worth doing, it's worth doing well". When I give the same thing a second thought as a fool i might say "you don't have to do things well! indeed its okay to do things poorly; otherwise you'll never let yourself be a beginner at a new activity". In this case i expanded my horizon of working field by thinking as a fool.

A fool notices things that other people overlook. A fool may extol the trivial what other people took for granted. So thinking like a fool exposes us to the situation that we rarely question. Thinking like a fool at times may be absurd, cryptic and might take the contrary position but it might help us to see the other side of the big picture.

Its no surprise that some of the greatest solutions, discovery and inventions are made thinking as a fool. When newton started questioning about the falling apple other people thought it was obvious and too trivial to question about. Newton was a fool to think of such trivial. But he proved the world wrong by bringing the world's one of the biggest discoveries (gravitation force) initiated by that fool thought.

So the great benefit of the fool's antics and observation is that they stimulate our thinking. Now i understand why Steve jobs always say "Stay hungry, Stay foolish".
